Sept 8th

W by hi

e’ll, we just spent the day at the garlic festival and it was certainly we’ll attended. That is until about 2 pm then the rain came down in bunches. A lot of hardy souls hung around until it let up a bit. We went to the campground and met up with a couple who I knew quite well from Silver Star. Then we went back to our mtr home. We’ll stay here tonight, then take off tomorrow for Nakusp, BC Here are a couple pic’s I took, not too good cuz of lighting.

We’ll try to camp and golf in Fauquier if it’s not raining. Otherwise, we’ll be home on Monday or Tuesday.

Enjoy in all the rain,

John & Esther

Sept 5th

We are now at, Castlegar, BC, (in the Kootenays)

Actually, it is called Castlegar Golf & Rv. We managed to get a site for 3-nights. So we’ll leave here Sunday am and drive to New Denver for their annual garlic festival. Then on Monday, we’ll be going to Fauqier Golf & RV, play 9 holes, then on Tuesday, we’ll probably drive home. And that will be our major trip for this year. I’ll let you know how many kms we did after I figure it out.

We have a T-time tomorrow of 10am for 9-holes.

Sept 3rd

We are now in a small town called, Jaffray. It is on BC hwy #3, in the Kootenay Region of southern BC. We quite often come to this golf/campground. The sites are nice and the 9-hole golf course is in excellent shape. We have tentative plans to play golf at other courses that have campgrounds as well. We’ll see what happens. We’ll probably end up at Fauquier Golf Course before heading for home. I expect we’ll be home around Sept 10th or 11th, sometime next week.

No pictures tonight, sorry !

John (Dad).

Coming to you from a Walmart parking lot in Moose Jaw, Sask. … Now I’m sure the Bombers are going to beat the pants off the Riders, so no fear, even tho the Bombers don’t have their all star quarter back and all star receiver, we’ll still beat those goons from Sask. I’ll even put my $5.00 bill on the line. That goes for you Fred ! So, if Barb is reading this, please Barb, tell Fred he is cheering the wrong team. Tell him to burn his Rider sweater.

We left Killarney, MB this am and drove to Moose Jaw, Sask. We’re staying in a Walmart parking lot for the night. Tomorrow , we’ll head for Cypress Hills, AB to spend a couple nights, and do some hiking. Then after that, we’ll head into the Kootenays to stay and play a little golf.

Yeah, I know, it’s a tough life, but someone has to do it.

Cheers,

John & Esther, from somewhere on the Cdn road.

Aug, 30th

Yesterday I prepared a blog of our most recent travels and planned some pics to go with them. However, everything went south when I accidently hit the wrong key and all I prepared just disappeared. So I lost my cool when that happened, and when I tried for a couple hours to find what I wrote and couldn’t find it, I said the heck with it and put my cell phone away.

So, … Today, we left BirdsHill Park campground and headed west. We are now in a Manitoba town called, Killarney, Mb. We found a town park that is on Killarney Lake and we are parked in their parking lot for the night.

We’ll, no pics tonight, just this blog. We travelled 374 kms today. Not too many, but I was tired and ready for a break. Tomorrow we’ll be somewhere in Sask. Our plan is to go to Cypress Hills which is south of Medicine Hat and maybe stay a night or two there. Cypress Hills is supposedly similiar to Utah in landscape. If I take a few photos, I’ll send them in tomorrow’s blog.

And now it’s time to say goodnight.

Monday, Aug 26

We had thoughts of going towards home, leaving tomorrow, but a note from Randy indicated Brandon & Mackenzie won’t be celebrating McKenna’s first b/d on her b/day as they are temporarily celebrating her b/d later. Apparently they have sold their house and are now living in a suite until their new house is finished so until everything is organized, no b/d celebrations.

Today, we travelled from about Ignace Ont to West Hawk Lake, MB. Weather here has been very wet. Rain all the way from Ignace, Ont to West Hawk Lake, MB. We killed some time by dumping our tanks, and refilling with fresh water. … I think tomorrow, we will travel to Birds Hill Prov Park. That way we can dump our tanks in their sani-dumps. And, while at Birds Hill Prov Park, we’ll do some hiking as

Sunday, Aug 25th,

Day 50 on our treking voyage. Seems like we just left home, however, we’re now thinking home. That is, after we go to see the things we want to see. We have a lot of stops to make. Plus, we have thoughts to go thru the Kootenays and play a little golf, (and camping at the golf courses).

As for going home, we would like to be home Sept 7th for McKenna’s first B/D. Plus we rec’d an invite to attend a couple’s going away paat O’Keefe’s restaurant on Sept 21st. … So, that’s what we’re looking at. Its all doable, right ?

Sept 7th is not far away, so some thinking has to be done. Esther would like to go and buy some Saskatoons south of Calgary. Also, we want to go to a Prov park that is south of Medicine Hat, just for hiking or walking around….. Lots of things to do, just need time.

We’ll see what gets done . Jb

From White River, Ont

We were at Blind River yesterday, now today we’re at town of, White River. Yes, there is a definite difference! … So now we’re drinking tea out of our “Hope For Wildlife” mugs, and sitting in our lawn chairs outside our mtr home. Yes, it’s a tough life, but somebody has to do it.

You can take a peek at a couple pic’s I’m including, but I don’t know how to add titles to the pics, so you’ll just have to sit there and try to figure things out.

Friday, the 23rd

Ablog from Blind River, Ont. … After visiting with our ski buddies, ( Arne & Judy), for a couple days in North Bay, Ont, (and riding our bikes with them), we decided it was time to move on. So, we took off heading west on hwy 17.We stopped at a Ontario Prov Park campground, and enquired about a site and of course, how much. … $48.00 for one night with no hookups !… OUCH ! ..that hurts ! …So, we moved on and when we got to Blind Bay , Ont, we enquired at the visitors info office and the nice young lady said we should go to their Blind Bay Marina as they only charge, $10.00 with no hookups. So that is where we are spending tonight. Not only is it very inexpensive, but we have a wonderful view of the lake and all the boats tied up at the docks, right out our windshield window. GREAT !Plus they have very nice, extra clean showers at no extra charge.Tomorrow, we’ll take off again on our journey heading towards Thunder Bay and Kenora. We have a number of places we want to go before going home, including going thru the Kootenays, so, we don’t expect to be near home, til sometime near the middle to the end of September.Try as I may, I’ll send a couple pic’s. …ENJOY !P. S. … I may end up sending more pics later.Cheers, John
