A long day today,

Today we travelled about 490 kms, a little tiring for us old bloggers but, tomorrow will be much shorter, about 200 klicks to North Bay to visit a couple ski buddies. Driving thru Quebec with their rough asphalt highway’s, I’ll be surprised if that didn’t shake a few nuts & bolts loose. Quebec has the roughest highways in Canada ! And I’ve driven on all the main highways in every province, including Newfoundland and PEI, and even the Yukon over the last number of years. They’ll have to spend some money on road improvements before they get me back in their province. Other province highways are fine.

I didn’t do a lot of picture taking today, but I’ll throw some pics in anyway. BTW,… we are now in the town of Pembroke, Ont.

More later, JB

My Wed blog…

O

n Monday, we camped at Caribou Munroes Prov Park in Nova Scotia for 24.35 per night, then on Tuesday we camped at Porter’s Lake Prov Park in Nova Scotia for same cost. Porter’s Lake P. P. was very close to Seaforth where we went to see “Hope For Wildlife”, where they film the show we watch on TV with Hope Swinimer, the founder the program. They have tours every Wed to Sunday. We joined the Wed tour. While there, I asked a tour guide if Hope was around. He said she was very busy as they are working on their 10th year of TV programming. Then when I said we’re from BC, he called her on his phone and she came out to meet us. We talked to her for a bit and snapped a couple pics, then she went back to work. That was the highlight of our trip.

Now we are camped at Elm River Park, a private campground, but still in Nova Scotia. Tomorrow, we’ll use their shower facilities, (very clean showers), and continue on to New Brunswick. Oh yeah, Esther did our laundry while at this campground. Prices of camping and laundry was very reasonable. … If I can get things to work, I’ll send along some pics, including a couple of us and “Hope”…. Enjoy, Dad

Our Monday blog, Aug 12th

Hi all, here we go again, a blog without pic’sSorry I don’t know what I’m doing, so please bear with me.We left Esther’s neice’s house and drove to catch the Woods Island ferry in PEI. That took us to Nova Scotia. Soon as we landed on the shores of Nova Scotia, we went off in search of a campground that had a sani-dump. We found one just to the left of where the ferry dropped us off. We checked the campground and they only had about 2 or 3 sites available, so we grabbed one for tonight. … Spent the day walking and listening to my recorded music. Wasn’t that fun!I have a few pics, but don’t know how to add them on to my blog, so tonight you’ll have to go without. So sad, too bad !We are at a Prov park for tonight, then tomorrow, we plan to go to “Hope For Wild Life”, where they film the show in Nova Scotia. To the uninformed, that is a weekly show we’ve been watching on TV, all about animals. It’s a great show and we’ve always said we would like to go to where it is filmed. Yes, you can be sure I’ll take a bunch of pic’s. Not sure I can figure how to include them in the blog. That’s about all for tonight, it’s now 6:30pm in Nova Scotia, about 2:30 in beautiful BC.See ya later,J & E

Sunday, Aug. 11th

This is my story and I’m sticking to it. …(subject to change without notice).

At the moment we’re at Esther’s neice, Leslie & husband Kirk’s house in PEI and it’s raining cats & dogs. Actually pouring out ! Leslie and Kirk took us for a car ride this afternoon around Montague & Georgetown, small towns on the Northumberland Strait, near Charlottetown. We seen a lot of area we wouldn’t normally see on our own. We went on a couple hikes, watched a live music show, had some ice cream, then came back to Leslie & Kirk’s house for supper and chit-chat. Next we made some plans for tomorrow, where we’re going and how to get there.

I’m not sure how to include some pics, so I’ll just throw them in at the bottom of this blog, and you’ll have to figure how to open them. Oh yeah, … The pic of Esther and I standing inside a “blue” muscle shell was taken today.

Here goes,

Talk to you guys tomorrow….

August 7th

After visiting and having lunch with Esther’s friend, Marg, who lives in Fredericton, we carried on towards the Confederation Bridge. That is a long trip so we decided to stop overnight at a small fishing village, called, Cambridge Narrows. We asked about a campground close by, and the young guy behind the counter suggested we just stay in their parking lot overnight. That was great and in fact the parking lot was new asphalt. A very quiet night ! … Next morning, we headed out towards the bridge that will take us to PEI. … PEI is quite a nice province and very clean. We found a campground called, Linkletter Prov Park, drove in to the office and checked in. They had one, a cancellation and it is facing the ocean. We are right on the ocean and it only cost $33.00 plus taxes per night, with full hook-up. So we booked it for three nights, ending, Friday night. That means we’re here until Sat morning. A good deal especially since we only rarely pay for a campsite. We almost always stay somewhere away from the crowded campsites. Normally, we try to Boondock wherever we can to save money.

I’ll try to send a couple pictures.Any questions ?

Saturday, Aug 3rd

Here we go again. …We are now in Fredericton, N. B. We’re staying at Esther’s family farm, parked in their driveway, which is actually out of Fredericton a few miles close to a tiny town called, Stanley. So about all we’ve been doing is talking and relaxing, no sight seeing or stuff like that. I haven’t taken any new pics the last few days, so this blog will be short.

Ominous clouds in sky tonight, I think we’re going to get rain. …. As for our possible propane leak, … Yes, we could definitely smell it, and our sensor by the coach door beeped a few times. I phoned Leisure Travel Vans in Winkler, MB and talked to a service guy. He advised to turn off the propane and try going into a RV shop. We found one in Fredericton and they sent us on to a Parts Specialty shop. The guy there climbed under our mtr home and confirmed the leaking LP regulator. He had a new one in stock and so we asked him to install it. Half hour later, we were on our way again. No more propane smell. Leisure Travel Vans said to send them the bill and they will reimburse us.

So, that’s our excitement for Friday. … Not sure how long Esther wants to visit her folks, maybe another day or two, then we’ll move on towards PEI, and more visiting with her family. And maybe a lobster dinner while at PEI. I’ll get some pics and include them tomorrow.

Cheers, J & E in New Brunswick.

July 30th

I’m back! … We’ll mostly, I guess ! Sorry I haven’t been very regular with my blogs, but things have been happening to my body and we’re not too sure how to handle everything. Firstly, I came down with a bad case of stomach flu, and that’s taken about 3 or 4 days to get rid of. I couldn’t eat anything without throwing up. Then s few days later, I got a bad case of diarrhea. … Esther and I talked seriously of returning to Vernon. But, that’s like giving up and that’s just not me. So here we are still on the road. Some might say, this has been a trip from hell. But we’re this far, just south of Ottawa, Ont.

Not sure where things were left off, however, we went thru a lot of towns, staying at times on the street, and some times at a park, and a few times at a campground. … I won’t mention all the places, but we came across the Tobermory Ferry , a 2 hour ferry, and along the Georgian Bay along to a little town called, Beaverton, Ont, then thru Peterborough to Smith Falls, and to Kemptville, Ont.

Weather has been not bad at most times, we’ve had a lot of rain. Southern Ontario is mostly very humid, so everytime it rains, that means more heat and humidity.

Tonight, we’re hunkered down in town of Kemptville, just south of Ottawa. It’s a real nice progressive town. We’re not going to Ottawa, and no plans for Montreal, so we’ll bypass those major cities.

I promise to send more blogs, and perhaps more pictures.

Enjoy,

John & Esther

Sunday, July 21st

John & Esther’s blog to date.Hi all from us travellers,Last we stayed on a gravel lot in the small town of Rossport, Ont. Wasn’t much, but at least it was free. Far cry from the night before at Kakabeka Falls Prov Park where we paid $ 48.00 for the night and only had power hook-up. Everything is so expensive in Ontario. Even milk is $3.10.So tonight we’ll stay in the parking lot of the visitors office of the the town of White River, Ont. We asked when we went into the office and we’re told yes, no problem to stay anywhere as long as it’s within the circle of the parking lot area. The weather today has been fairly good, mostly sunny. So it looks like a dry night.Today, we stopped at town of Marathon along the hwy for lunch at A & W and to buy some groceries. When we returned to out mtr home, we found a new mtr home same as ours even same color parked right beside ours. I guess they wanted to chat about the mtr homes. So we spent the next half hour talking mtr homes. They are from St Boniface, MB and bought theirs about same time as us. Interesting !Now I’ll try including a pic or two

John’s blog for Friday, July 19th

Hi all, not sure where I left off as I’ve been fumbling with the blog for a couple days.Tuesday the 16 th, we went to my cousins house for a backyard party. Almost all of my cousins were there with exception of one or two. Very good party and as usual, too much wine, but we survived thanks to cousin Greg who allowed us to park our rig in their driveway, so no driving afterwards. Next day we bid farewell to Greg & Lynda and went on our way. This is a pic of cousin Greg & his wife, Lynda, and their newest arrival, “Sky” a small dog of mixed breed, but a cutie. The pic was taken in their back yard the day after the party. The next pic I took of some of my cousin’s at the backyard party. It might be confusing to begin naming them, so I won’t bother. More later after I figure how to do it without screwing up.
